Treatment-emergent AEs were generally mild. Conclusions and Inferences: Velusetrag treatment was generally well-tolerated and associated with improved GE vs placebo in subjects with diabetic or idiopathic gastroparesis; however, only the lowest dose, velusetrag 5 mg, was associated with short-term improvement in gastroparesis symptoms.]]> Wed 28 Feb 2024 14:59:49 AEDT ]]> Acid and non-acid reflux in patients refractory to proton pump inhibitor therapy: is gastroparesis a factor? https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:22234 4, respectively), the duration of acid and non-acid reflux in a 24-h period, and the number of reflux episodes lasting longer than 5 min. Results: No statistical difference was seen between the patients with GP and controls with respect to the total number or duration of acid reflux events, total number and duration of non-acid reflux events or the duration of longest reflux episodes. The number of non-acid reflux episodes with a pH > 7 was higher in subjects with GP than in controls. In addition, acid reflux episodes were more prolonged (lasting longer than 5 min) in the GP patients than in controls; however, these values did not reach statistical significance. Thirty-five patients had recorded symptoms during the 24 h study and of the 35 subjects, only 9% (n = 3) had a positive symptom association probability (SAP) for acid/non-acid reflux and 91% had a negative SAP. Conclusion: The evaluation of patients with a documented history of GP did not show an association between GP and more frequent episodes of non-acid reflux based on MII-pH testing.]]> Wed 11 Apr 2018 12:43:08 AEST ]]> Pilot Double-Blind Randomised Controlled Trial: Effects of Jejunal Nutrition on Postprandial Distress in Diabetic Gastropathy (J4G Trial) https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:52159 27), diabetic controls without symptoms (DC; GCSI < 14) and healthy controls (HV) were entered into a randomized, double blind controlled trial. JN with liquid nutrient (2 kcal/min) or water was infused for 60 min prior to ingestion of a standardized mixed solid/liquid test meal. Outcomes included postprandial symptoms and effects on gastrointestinal (GI)–peptide hormones and gastric emptying (GE) assessed by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Nine DG, nine DC and twelve HV were recruited. DG patients reported more symptoms after meals than other groups (p < 0.05). Post-prandial symptoms were reduced after JN in DG patients (p < 0.01). GE was more rapid after JN in DG and DC patients (p < 0.05). JN induced a GI–peptide response in all subjects; however, this was less pronounced in diabetic groups. JN has beneficial effects on DG patients’ symptoms after a meal. The mechanism is not primarily mediated by effects on GE, but appears to involve other aspects of GI function, including visceral sensitivity.]]> Wed 04 Oct 2023 10:49:22 AEDT ]]> Epidemiology and pathophysiology of gastroparesis https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:42577 Thu 25 Aug 2022 14:35:16 AEST ]]> Risk of gastroparesis in subjects with type 1 and 2 diabetes in the general population https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:12777 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:18:20 AEDT ]]> Spectrum of gastroparesis in children https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:12765 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:18:18 AEDT ]]> Functional dyspepsia https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:26272 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:40:16 AEDT ]]> Epidemiology of gastroparesis https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:28539 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:28:47 AEDT ]]> Prevalence of hidden gastroparesis in the community: the gastroparesis "iceberg" https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:21659 Mon 11 Mar 2019 12:16:36 AEDT ]]>
